How to Add Web Content to a Site Toolbar in bSpace

This document will demonstrate how to add a web link to the toolbar of a worksite in bSpace. In bSpace, this is called a Web Content link. Adding Web Content to your site offers direct access from bSpace to websites that site members will use regularly. If you include links to many websites in your course site's Resources section, you might choose to put the most important or most commonly used links in Web Content . Here are some examples of how you can use this feature:

Before you begin, make sure:

Adding Web Content Links to the Tools Menu

  1. Click Web Content in the left toolbar. (If you do not see the item Web Content in the toolbar, you will need to add the tool to your site by clicking Site Info in the toolbar and then clicking the Edit Tools button at the top of the screen and following the steps).
  2. Click the Options button on the Web Content screen to add a URL.
  3. In the "Tool Title" field enter a title for the URL. In the "Page Title" field enter the website name as you would like it to show in the Toolbar. In most instances, this will be the same. The "Frame Height" field will default to 600 pixels. You can leave this as this is the recommended size.
  4. In the URL field enter the URL of the website you would like. If you would like the website to open in a new window outside of bSpace, you should click the checkbox to the left of "Open in a new window" . Click the Update Options button after you have finished with all of the website information.
  5. The content now appears within the bSpace frame.
